Since Winter 2015 Give a Kid a Blanket has gifted over 120,000 objects of warmth and comfort to those in need.

Operation Kindness seeks to support families nomin

Operation Kindness seeks to support families nominated by Police, Family Action (a refuge and counselling service) and Public Health staff (including Public Health Nurses and Maternal Mental Health) with gifts and food support this Christmas. These families have faced challenges this year and are deserving of community support and aroha.
If you would like to provide gifts for a family or child on the below list please email us at badwakk@xtra.co.nz with these details;
Your name and the Family number or child from the list. We will email you back.

You could contribute items, or have a work collection. Donations need to reach us by Dec 6, at unit 6/91 Central Park Drive, Henderson 10 - 4 weekdays, 10 - 2 Saturday 23 Nov.

Lovely to meet Mackenzie & Kobi, who, with their mum, dropped off their Operation Kindness gifts this morning. Great to see kids being encouraged to think of others from a young age.
By luck the nurse who nominated the family that these gifts are for was on site, and it was clear she was very moved by this act of kindness. Love those magical moments.

We are absolutely thrilled to have the support of

We are absolutely thrilled to have the support of Whitcoulls St Lukes again this festive season. Each year Whitcoulls introduce a new Christmas Bear, this time round it's Franklin. Franklin can be bought and then donated to GaKaB in the shop. These are going to bring smiles and comfort to lots of kids. Many will be heading out with frontline police to give to kids needing something to cuddle, while others will help with Operation Kindness.

With Operation Kindness kicking off this weekend it was lovely to have Barry & Rachel come in with these fabulous Christmas gift packs they had made. Amazing!
Barry & Rachel have been part of our community of kindness since 2021, with Rachel, who is a talented crafter, making many items for us to gift to others.

With Operation Kindness launching tomorrow we were very excited to have Annette come in with these amazing handmade donations.
Annette is a long time member of our community of kindness and a gifted and creative crafter extraordinaire. Items this time included reusable water balloons, ribbons for parcel bling and 50 handprinted gift bags. These bags had once held duvets that went out in winter which Annette then transformed. Recycling at its best.

A shout out of respect and appreciation to Sam (Warehouse and Logistics Manager) at Fair Food as he clocks out for the last time today.
Each week I pick up from Fair Food, and while I'm there to get kai, it is the fabulous humans that are on the staff I'm excited to see each week. Sam has been simply amazing, and I grieve a little today knowing I won't catch up with him for a couple of minutes each week. Wishing you the best Sam. Legend

Christmas and New Year can be for many the most st

Christmas and New Year can be for many the most stressful time of the year. Operation Kindness is our Christmas project. This will be our 6th year running it.
We seek nominations from the police and public health staff we work with of families who will need some community aroha in order have a Christmas. We provide gifts for all family members and a kai hamper and support package of toiletries and cleaning products. Over Labour Weekend we start seeking sponsors for families or individuals from our community of kindness.

When good things come together 👏🏻

We are pleased to be able to run our monthly meal in Ranui, Potluck Communal Kai, out of the Ranui Community Centre. While we aim to use the carpark for service we have been using inside the centre through the wetter months. While this makes for drier guests, it does make us a little nervous about potential spills. Old school maybe but leaving a place better than we found it is our way.

We were therefore very grateful to have the fabulous Carpet Surgeon offer to give the entire centre a steam clean on our behalf as a koha to the Centre. Carpet Surgeon did a stunning job 🫧🤩

A year ago the lovely Keri joined our volunteer team for our Christmas Campaign - Operation Kindness 🎄 A year on and Keri now comes in weekly to volunteer her time and helps with our Ranui Community meal 🥘

We love having Keri on our team as she’s always full of joy, eager to take on new tasks and makes everyone around her laugh! 😁

We’re excited to have her on board again for our Christmas campaign starting October 28th 🎅🏻
